The Course of Emotions: a mini-golf experience is my interactive installation for Summer Streets by the NYC Department of Transportation. It is a 9-hole miniature golf course where each hole presents a different emotional obstacle to overcome, such as the Worry windmill, the seesaw platform of Insecurity, and a par 40 maze that literally spells "Frustration."
Summer Streets is an event for which the NYC DOT closes Park Ave to vehicles from 51st Street to the Brooklyn Bridge. Visitors are invited to walk, bicycle, and skate over more than 7 miles of NYC streets. There are rest stops along the way with art, performances, and activities. The Course of Emotions will be at the Uptown Rest Stop (NE corner of 51st and Park) from 7am-1pm on the first three Saturdays in August (3, 10, & 17).
This is the second time that I will be showing The Course of Emotions. (I created the first version as a visiting artist for Monmouth University in 2008.) This iteration features many of my favorite concepts from the first course, plus some completely new hole designs and challenging obstacles!!
